In July 2018 Thomas was awarded the Roy Turley Community Award for his contribution to our local community. Thomas has been an active member of our school community through his contributions to school life. He has played his cornet in our school Carol Concert, has helped raise funds, listened to, and supported other pupils, and directed change within the school. Thomas has volunteered his dad to come into school to deliver lessons on programming a robot, and using a 3D printer.
Within the Parkend Community, Thomas is an active part of Parkend Silver band, and has played in many events, including fund raising for the local community.
Thomas enjoys scouts and regularly goes litter picking to enhance our local area. He is also part of a local swimming club.
Roy Turley was an ex pupil of Parkend School, and a Governor for over 30 years. Roy sadly passed away in 2016. He worked tirelessly for the Parkend Community, supporting Parkend School, Cricket Club, Silver band and Carnival to name but a few. It was because of his love for Parkend, and his support for the local community, Roy’s family decided to create an award in his honour.
Every child in the school was asked to write about themselves and the contribution they have made to both our school and the local community. Roy’s family read through these, and together, after much deliberation, decided that for 2018, Thomas had made an outstanding contribution to both the school and local community. Thomas was presented with the Roy Turley Community Shield and given a Thank you card with a cash prize for his outstanding work.
Well done Thomas! Parkend School is very proud of you!
