Parkend Primary School

The small school with BIG ideas!

Curriculum and Intent

Curriculum at Parkend Primary School

At Parkend Primary our vision is threaded into our tailored made curriculum.  It is constantly evolving to develop the skills and knowledge needed for children to become successful learners, help prepare them for life in modern Britain, learn about different cultures, enrich their vocabulary and empower them to achieve success in the future.

Our aim is to deliver a dynamic and innovative curriculum that challenges, excites and inspires children in our mixed age classes so that they become successful and confident life-long learners; learners who take a pride in themselves and achieve their best the can, as well as develop as curious thinkers with 'everyone together' on the learning journey.

The school’s curriculum promotes and sustains a thirst for knowledge and understanding, and a love of learning. It covers a wide range of subjects and provides opportunities for academic, technical, creative and sporting achievements.  It has a very positive impact on all pupils’ behaviour and safety, and contributes very well to pupils’ academic achievement, their physical and mental wellbeing, and their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

At Parkend Primary School all three class teachers are responsible for providing a curriculum that is suitable for all pupils in our mixed age classes, including those with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) with support from the SENCo.

We have high expectations for all pupils and are committed to ensuring our curriculum complies with the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014.

Our inclusion statement emphasises the importance of providing an inclusive learning environment for all pupils including those with SEND. Additional information on this can be found on our Equality section of the website and on the SEND page.
