Meet Class 2

Timetable of our week A and B

In English, we have been reading Loon on the Moon and watching video clips of Man on the Moon. When we come back after Easter, we will be reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Goldilocks and Just the One Bear (Leigh Hodgekinson), Cinderboy (Anthony Horowitz) and reading the Boy in the Dress for our Class Novel (David Walliams). We aim to keep texts/videos and writing tasks short, sharp and snappy to help ease pupils in after Lockdown.

PE and Swimming

PE is on a Tuesday afternoon. Children need to come in WEARING PE kits (Black Jogging bottoms or shorts, plain t-shirt, a black hooded top and a pair of trainers or daps). Children should not be wearing earrings for health and safety reasons and long hair should be tied up.

Your child does not need to bring in a change of clothes/school uniform on Tuesdays.

PE for this half term may be indoors or outdoors (weather dependent). During cold weather, please ensure your child has warmer clothing (such as black tracksuit bottoms and a black jumper or hoodie).

Swimming will not be running for the foreseeable future, due to Covid 19. We will let you know when the children are able to begin swimming lessons again.

Forest Classrooms will be running every Friday (after lunchtime), with Mrs. Thorne, Mrs. Roberts and Mrs. Millin. Children will need to come in dressed in suitable clothes for outdoor learning (in all weathers)

- Wellies or walking boots

- Tracksuit bottoms or jeans

- A school jumper (ideally an old one, if possible)

- A coat, hat, gloves and scarf (in cold weather)

You do not need to send them in with a change of clothes unless it is likely to rain or had been raining and the forest is muddy.

Homework

Homework is handed out on a Thursday every week and should be returned on a Monday

Your child will usually be given spellings, times tables challenges and a short writing activity. There will also be scores recorded on the sheet from the spelling and tables tests, so you can see how they are doing.

Reading books will be changed on a Wednesday, please ensure you return it before Wednesday, with a comment in the home reading record, if you would like it changed. We will try our best to change books more frequently. Please ensure your child understands their book before it is returned, as we will be asking them what it is about and checking their understand it before changing it (to ensure they have got the most out of it)!

If you have any questions about the homework, please do not hesitate to ask myself or Sharon.

Other information for parents

Family assembly is normally on the last Friday of the month. This will not be taking place for the foreseeable future; however If your child has been nominated for an award, the Class Teacher will notify you via Class Dojo.

There are usually a number of exciting afterschool clubs run by the Parkend. These are not currently running at the moment, but we hope to reintroduce these later on in the Year.
